no the power company can create electricity a lot cheaper because of the economy of scale
it would be cheaper to use diesel and its better envromently
The utilities are soon going to cross the line where it would be advantageous for the consumers to just make their own power! And once they do there is no going back and they know it! If you produce your own bio diesel fuel then yes it is right now!
I like all of the answers above, but #1 is right, the smell would be unbearable and you would be vilified by your neighbors. I’ve driven a lot of trucks, and currently own a diesel now; if you consider a) the noise, and b) the smoke, it’s just too much for residential applications. Besides, most generators are not designed for continuous use. But for heaven’s sake, keep thinking! This is a great idea!
If you live in town, your neighbors will complain of the smell and noise. You might not like that part either.
